Take it and shove it

As I’ve written, I’ve been at least partly self-employed for the past 23 years [1]. I’ve nothing but admiration for anyone who thrives as an employee. It takes a special person to do that. And in that regard, I’m not special. But I’m special in another way: I love country music. (Sorry, Chrows25, I know you don’t.) One of my favourite country songs is the 1977 classic: ‘Take This Job and Shove It’ [2]. Written by David Allan Coe [3, 4], its most famous singer’s Johnny Paycheck [5, 6]. I’m sure its success is because many an employee would love to say, or even better yell, its title at their employer. Most don’t. And many continue to do menial work under terrible conditions without a peep. Not so Steven Slater (pictured), the JetBlue flight attendant who recently had a spectacular meltdown, cursed a passenger on the tannoy, and then left his plane, and likely his career, with a dramatic exit down an emergency slide [7]. Way to go, Steve. You showed ’em. This Age article documents Steve’s JetBlue episode, and also how air travel’s changed from a romantic adventure to a soul-destroying nightmare [8]. I agree [9]. And I’m sure it’s a nightmare for airline staff as well as passengers. Most do nothing about it. Which makes Steve’s defiant gesture even more epic. Messrs Coe and Paycheck would be proud of you, Steve. I am. And I’ll bet it won’t be long before you collect your next paycheck. Hopefully via self-employment.

Oh dear, opera and country music?? No Santana....we could never share an ipod!
Actually I love the title of that song, and it is a little bit upbeat; I think all the heartbreak and melodrama of opera and country music are what I dislike.
Now if you have dissed Santana , I am sure you must heartily dislike Wagner, horrid anti-semitic man who liked Hitler.
His music is resounding and powerful tho.
I fooled around after my initial disaster with the template, which was not good, found something calle Advanced and after much effort and outrage ended up with the present green phase.
Then I found how to make my blog space wider and then even better how to make my text larger.
Glad that you like the new bigger green look.
I was very pleased with myself finding all the cunning little things I could change.
But , can you tellme how you leave a comment if you don't have an url or the equivalent; we tried an email and that did not work , so in the end it seemed you could use Anonymous but put your name at the end of the text.
I am not sure that I will ever learn to put in all those links and numbers in that you so cleverly do.

My goodness, Chrows25, your comment's longer than the post it's commenting on!
You're right - I like Wagner's music whilst detesting the man himself.
I'm not sure what you mean about posting a comment. On your new template as well as the old one, just click on '0 comments' just to the right of the posting time at the foot of the post, and go from there. Is this what you mean, or something else?

Brief does not seem to be a word I understand, I found comments, but don't know how to leave a comment if you don't have your own url,an email address does not work so all I could see to do was use Anonymous.

I reckon you're correct, Chrows25. If you can't log on to the Comments section in any other way, then all that's left is to use the Anonymous category.
Having said that, I'm no expert in Blogger. I don't find it remotely user friendly. I reckon if I was starting a new blog now and knowing what I know about Blogger, I'd use another blogging site. Ho hum.

I might have found a better blogging site but unlikely as interesting a cyberfriend!
