List: 'Top 10 most confusing films'

Today’s ‘List Friday’. I think I’m a fairly bright guy. Medical degree, PhD and all that. But I’m way down there when it comes to understanding movie plots. Well below average. Near the bottom of the heap. When plots are simple and linear, I’m fine. But anything even a teeny tiny bit more complex and I’m a goner. Luckily for me, at decoding plots Sweetheart Vivienne’s a champ. Whereas I’m a chump. Or maybe a chimp. She’s come to my rescue time after time. Ever so patiently, too. Just one more thing I’m grateful to her for. Today’s list comes from last Wednesday’s Age. It’s the ‘Top 10 most confusing films’ [1]. I’m overjoyed this list exists. That there are others out there who find films confusing. Or at least one other: Its compiler, Sebastian Cordoba (I assume he [2] is not him [3]), and I may be the only two such people in the known universe. Talking of which, seeing 2001: A Space Odyssey top the list is deeply gratifying. I’ve never had a clue what it’s about. But for all that, it heads my list of best film music [4]. Of the 10 films in Mr Cordoba’s list, the only other three I’ve seen are Mulholland Drive, The Matrix Revolutions and Synecdoche, New York. I agree they deserve to be in the ‘Top 10’ list. Finally, if ever Mr Cordoba wishes to compile a list of the ‘Top 1,000 most confusing films’, I’m his man. Ho hum.
