farmdoc's blog post number 366

Farmdoc, being a modest fellow, isn’t disposed to self-congratulation. But today’s an exception. Because this is Farmdoc’s Blog’s 366th daily post – the first of its second year. The first 365 posts – from last 21 April until yesterday – have totalled 84,000 words, i.e. an average 225 words per post. It took until post number 54 before I was brave enough to post a photograph. The most popular post – why, I don’t know – has been this one, with 216 hits. The second most popular one’s had only 9 hits. Weird, eh. In the first post, I mentioned I was writing the blog for my own benefit. That’s how it’s turned out, too. Each day I’ve written of what’s been on my mind at the time. My style’s been deliberately informal and chatty, without breaking too many grammar rules. And though I’ve tried to be optimistic, some of the topics have afforded little scope for optimism, so my scepticism (or is it realism?) and at times my indignation have surfaced. To my regret. Writing a post takes me 35-40 minutes, so a daily post’s a fair time commitment. But so far the advantages have outweighed the disadvantages. And as a flow-on, blog writing’s improved my medical report writing and my general letter (and email) writing. As to Farmdoc’s Blog’s future, I haven’t thought about it much. But I’ll continue it, daily, until it stops being enjoyable and fun. I can’t predict when that’ll be. Meantime, I’m savouring the milestone. Happy birthday, Farmdoc’s Blog.
